The town is especially forlorn in this season, with protective fencing on the beaches to keep the sand from blowing away, and, with the exception of a few amusement arcades, all the funfairs and amusements are closed.
I set out to capture the different layers - the beach and promenade, the sparkling lights of the arcades, and the streets. The residential streets behind the sea front could be Victorian terraces anywhere in the country. A level of deprivation and poverty is evident, but Great Yarmouth is a town with a long and rich history and has great heart and character.
